Experiments with as3 svg output

I recently coded a flash image manipulation program to generate rows of circles based on a user submitted image file. Even more recently than that, I have been developing a as3 class that can export dynamically generated content to svg (scalable vector graphics) files.

Why do this?

So I could open them in Illustrator and scale the images to whatever size I wanted to. I can now create really cool poster sized images out of 640x480px images.

Torte Reform Production Design

This Saturday and Sunday, Sheli and I worked as the production designers for a webisode series/tv series pilot directed by Tim Cruz. The whole thing took place in a mansion in the Malibu hills, and we dressed 5 rooms. We only had the location for the weekend, so we shot at an incredible pace of 20 pages per day. All 12 webisodes were shot that day, except for a few scenes that took place in another location.

Mosaic LA Film Festival Site Upgrade

I just finished upgrading the http://mosaiclafilmfest.com site design.

Something about the previous site design wasn't working for me. The second level navigation wasn't clear, the headers looked dumb, and the main content was too wide to comfortably read. So I opened Illustrator and started redesigning.

Writer's Group

Last night I started attending a writer's group. We watched some commercials and discussed why we were drawn into the stories. We spent time developing story ideas and shared them with each other and gave each other critiques and comments.

We watched a short film from Paris je t'aime called "Bastille" by Isabel Coixet. It is an incredible story, and I was fortunate enough to find a good copy on youtube to share.

Art Night

After Terra Nova (a retreat specifically designed for artisans) Sheli and I decides to host an art night twice a month at our apartment. I started to work on a new painting, and then made a shrinky-dink out of recyclable materials. They're the things you draw on plastic and then stick in an oven until they shrivel up to a third of their original size.

Normally, I don't like showing anyone an unfinished piece of artwork, but I thought that the background for this painting looked so good, I wanted to share it.

TED talk on extreme ice loss

Just watched a video about extreme ice loss recorded with time-lapse cameras. It's incredible to watch the disintegration of these glaciers.

I live to create

I am a Los Angeles based painter, graphic designer, web developer, motion graphics artist, video editor, colorist, writer, and director.

I love unsweetened iced-tea, fresh operating system installs, and facebook poker.

I hate bank fees, getting ocean water in my mouth, and laptop batteries that die as soon as they are unplugged.

I collect movies, belt buckles, and bottle caps.

I am Tim Wood.
